Towards the end of the academic year, our Grade 5 students spend a working day in Middle School to familiarise themselves with new systems, logistical procedures, and expectations. They also keep a transition diary, which is later reviewed to analyse gaps and strengthen the process. Alongside this, parents attend dedicated sessions where they are introduced to the skills required for Grade 6 students and guided on how they can best support their child at home.
The Grade 5 teachers ensure that Grade 6 staff have a good understanding of the individual needs of each student by having transition meetings and completing paperwork that can be shared. This is to ensure the children’s journey is as smooth as possible into Grade 6.
