TISB has an exemplary record using the Model United Nations conferences to develop international mindedness and improves students debating and social skills. Combined with our work with the Future Leaders programme, our pupils have access to a wide range of experiences that broaden their understanding and knowledge of global relations and issues.

In PY, we believe in the power of experiential learning, and our students certainly do not miss out on the adventure. Our trips programme for students in Pre-KG to Grade 5 is designed to offer memorable, educational experiences beyond the classroom.

TISB hosts an annual MUN three-day event in December which is attended by around 40 schools and approximately 500+ students. This conference not only improves the debating skills of our student but also their organizational and leadership skills. Students from Grades 6 to 12 take part in this conference.

TISBMUN was founded in 2010, when two of our best MUNers decided that TISB should expand the small MUN conference which was under VIVUM (our TISB school fest) to a full-fledged MUN conference. This year, TISBMUN will take place during 16- 18th December 2023. This year’s iteration includes a selection of Junior, Senior, and Mixed committees meant to invigorate and inspire delegates as they tackle a range of diverse topics from around the world. This can be a steppingstone into the world of MUN or a unique way to challenge honed MUN skills.

Students from grades 10-12 get a chance to be at the helm of this iconic event by being a member of our Executive Board - a place to formulate dynamic and groundbreaking ideas to challenge delegates! Another way to be a part of the organizing team is via the Logistics team which is open for 8-12th graders. This offers an opportunity that garners experience in leadership and coordination, as well as a potential CAS activity for grades 11 and 12.

At TISB we are very proud of our exemplary track record in the world of MUN.

Our students attend various local MUN conferences such as BMUN, CJCMUN as well as national MUN Conferences such as Harvard MUN India and ILMUNC (Ivy League MUN), where our students have won numerous prizes, besides chairing some committees.

The Model United Nations (MUN) offers students the chance to experience what it would feel like to be a delegate in the United Nations. The UN website describes a Model United Nations Conference as “an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly and other multilateral bodies.”

The MUN is an opportunity for students to take on the roles of diplomats from different countries, representing their nation in discussions on a particular agenda topic. Delegates must research about their allotted countries in great detail, understanding their own foreign policy and the considerations and compulsions that determine state behaviour at an international level. They must also research their committee agendum, fully exploring the intricacies of the issue at hand, including the background, history, its treatment in the UN system, resolutions passed on it, major countries involved, causes, consequences, past action and more. Finally, delegates must research and propose innovative and feasible solutions to the problem, within the mandate of the organ or agency they are simulating.

At TISB we have the Model United Nations Club which train students from Grades 6 to 12. We have the Junior Club for students from Grades 6 to 8 and the senior club from Grades 9 to 12. The Club meets every Tuesday to train and send students to attend various MUN Conferences. Apart from training, the MUN Club also organizes an internal INTRAMUN (only for TISB students) and TISBMUN for external students.
