TISB had 13 student participants appearing at the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing test on 17 February. Part of the group, Arjun from Grade 11 was awarded a distinction for ranking in the top 25% of contestants among the Senior Division in the Canadian Computing Competition. We reached out to Arjun to find out more about the competition and where this might lead him in the future.

I joined it because I enjoy computer programming and so I wanted to use it in a competitive context – Arjun, Grade 11

Being a passionate and engaged person regarding computer programming, Arjun challenged himself in a competitive way. “The competition took place online and was automatically scored through a website. “Every student participating from TISB did so at the same time, during school hours”, says Arjun, who was part of the 13 student group who were logged into a Teams meeting for the duration of the competition.

As a committed and engaged participant in the group of students, Arjun feel good to have accomplish the success and being part of the top 25%. “I am happy with the result and I intend to further improve my skills in competitive programming”, says Arjun, whose passion for technology and the future is one of his main engagement categories. Participating and succeeding has inspired Arjun and his future with computers. “I do intend to continue to pursue computer programming and computer science in the future.”
