Assessment in Primary Years

In Primary Years we believe that Assessment for Learning (AFL) or formative assessment is the key to effective teaching and learning.  It provides an environment in which intercultural understanding can flourish and learners can become inspired.  Formative assessment supports on-going learning.

We also believe that assessment of learning or summative assessment is also important. Summative assessment is concerned with summarising assessments at particular points in time and supports a range of further purposes, including tracking a child’s progress, reporting, evaluating, planning, and target-setting.
