At TISB, the pastoral care of our students is of primary importance, and we are committed to providing a safe and caring environment for all our boarders.
The pastoral team headed by Deputy Principal Pastoral ensures that the emotional, physical social, and mental well-being of our boarders are always attended to, helping them to settle into their new environment and are to ensure that they are adjusting to the structure and rigour of TISB Boarding. The DPP and school counsellor lead sessions to create awareness on various topics like anti-bullying, anti-vaping, healthy eating etc. to ensure that all our boarders feel happy, secure and safe.
Our staff, both boarding and teaching, are approachable and encourage students to share any issues that may be troubling them. The school has both a full-time Pastoral Coordinator and School Counsellors who students can talk to on a confidential basis.
The House Parents are resident members of staff, who are also non-teaching members of the boarding community, whose role is to support the Heads of Houses.
Heads of Houses
The Head of Houses (GIH, BIH and JBIH) are non-teaching members of the boarding community who will support the Housemaster or Housemistress in the running of the boarding House.
Head of Boarding
The Head of Boarding has the pastoral and well-being responsibility for all the boarders at TISB, as well as the overall management responsibility for each boarding House.
Student Heads of House and Boarding Committe
The Boarding Student Committee is led by the boarding prefect and meets every fortnightly with Deputy Principal Pastoral and Head of Boarding to discuss various aspects of boarders’ wellbeing.
The Food Council is represented by students from all grades in the boarding houses. Chaired by Deputy Principal Pastoral and presided by student Food Council leaders – Manya Saraf and Akshit Jain of Grade 12, the committee takes feedback from staff and students and also reviews the cafeteria food and menu.
TISB is very fortunate to have an onsite fully staffed Medical Center that is open 24 hours a day. If a student is ill or injured, they should report to the Medical Center where a School Nurse will be on duty. Minor ailments and injuries will be attended to by the Medical Center; with anything more serious being seen by the consultant school doctor. If there is a requirement and for emergencies, our students are taken to Manipal Super Specialty Hospital at Varthur.
