The Aajivan Lecture series is back at TISB. Being a student-led series of lectures, participants have the chance to interact with professionals from various disciplines, to learn more about the professional world and become aware about potential future pathways. The first Aajivan lecture was held last week, Friday 21 January, with Ms Deeksha Ahuja, the founder of Encubay. We reached out to the organisers, Diya, Viraj and Pooja from Grade 11 to learn more about the Aajivan Lecture series.

These lectures are very inspirational, informative, and insightful – Diya, Grade 11

The Aajivan lectures are a learning opportunity for participants, as they provide a platform to interact with professionals with unique experiences and who have achieved tremendous success in their fields. “The best part about Aajivan is that it introduces students to an array of career options and encourages them to connect with the speaker by raising their own questions”, says Diya, who sees the lectures as great sources for both information and inspiration.

The series is for everyone at TISB, both students and staff. “Ever since the transition to an online platform, the wealth of knowledge created from the Aajivan Series is more accessible to students and staff than ever”, explains Viraj, who believes it is for anyone who has an interest in learning about professionals' experiences and roads to success.

The first of the Aajivan Lectures featured Ms Deeksha Ahuja, the founder of Encubay, a startup incubator for women-led businesses. She started her first business in college, and has since then founded four companies, ranging from ed-tech to investment. “Ms Deeksha was passionate and driven to promote diversity in the entrepreneurial community. We hoped that she might raise awareness about the lack of diversity in the startup ecosystem and what we, as students, could do to address this vital issue”, says Pooja, who has been working as an intern for Ms Deeksha’s firm for the past three weeks.

The vision for the future of the Aajivan Series is to find and bring in expert guest speakers from different professions, offering a great audience of students a broad range of inspirational stories and experiences, triggering a range of different career journeys. “As we learn about the journeys and success stories of professionals, we learn that there is no one path to success and every journey has ups and downs”, says Diya, who sees the Aajivan Series truly creating beliefs that many things are possible.

Stay tuned and follow the Aajivan Lecture Series.
