This summer Sreyas from Grade 8 took part in the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) and their Talent Search. Being one of 19,000 students from 84 countries, he was rewarded as one of the brightest students. The Johns Hopkins CTY uses above-grade-level testing to identify advanced students from around the world and provide a clear picture of their true academic abilities. We reached out to Sreyas to learn more about his experience.

It feels good to be able to have this recognition and it's a great thing that makes me feel better – Sreyas, Grade 8

The Johns Hopkins CTY was established in 1979, and is a globally leading organisation in education. The centre focus on recognising academic talent among K-12 students and supports growth with courses, services and resources according to their needs and provides about USD 4 million financially. The CTY are thrilled to celebrate the results of their students, and Sreyas was part of the 20% of the Talent Search who qualified for the Honour Award. Being one of rewarded students, Sreyas has qualified for the CTY online summer programme, where students form a community of engaged learners from around the world.

Sreyas took part in the Talent Search to add an extra variety and push himself during the summer break. “I joined it to look for an extra challenge in my time, and to look for more fun things to do”, says Sreyas, whose entrance testing and exam went very well. Sreyas has now planned to join the Johns Hopkins CTY Advance Learning Programme. “What comes next after this is quite interesting if you try it out!”, says Sreyas, who already believes that this may be useful for his working ethics and future plans.
