What is MUN?
The UN website describes a Model United
Nations conference as "An authentic
simulation of the U.N. General Assembly and
other multilateral bodies."
At TISB, we like to take this definition
further. We believe that a Model United
Nations conference is more than just an
academic simulation of the United Nations;
we like to believe that a MUN conference is
an experience unlike any other. It's an
opportunity for students to step into the
shoes of their leaders in the real world and
to come with their own solutions to issues
that threaten the peace and harmony of the
world. Participants get the opportunity to
learn about current international affairs, they
develop various skills such as public
speaking, active listening, negotiating,
lobbying, and many more.
But there's more to an MUN conference than
just that. Students get a chance to meet and
interact with like-minded individuals and to
learn from them. They get to meet new
people and make new friends. It's an
opportunity to explore different avenues of
learning and to have fun at the same time.
All of this in just 3 short days! So if you have
a passion for debating, a desire to learn
about the world, or if you simply want to
have fun and meet new people, then we look
forward to seeing you in August!
