The IGCSE programme from Cambridge University is presented in grades IX and X, and students usually take 8-9 IGCSEs at the end of grade X, or 10 if they show great talent. Results are exceptionally good and are a fine launchpad for success in the IB. Students can choose form a very wide range of subjects with the guidance of teachers and parents. Gifted mathematicians may opt for additional mathematics and thereby garner two IGCSEs in this subject in as many years. The sciences are taught separately, so students may opt for a broad foundation to keep choices open for their IB Diploma course selection and career choices.

The IGCSE program is used in over 157 countries, and over one million students take these examinations annually. The IGCSE is an objective measurement of achievement that is well understood by universities worldwide. Students with a broad array of IGCSE passes have a selective advantage at the finest universities and college.
